How do I create a link to an item found in a library database?

(Creating a link to database content that will work off-campus)

Answer

Access to library database resources is restricted to current Stockton University faculty, students, and staff. There are two methods of linking to database items:

  1. a permalink to a FlashFind record
  2. a database URL routed through the library proxy server

FlashFind Permalink
Each record within the FlashFind search tool has an individual link that is used to navigate directly back to that record. When you identify an item in FlashFind that you wish to link to, open the full record for the item and click on the Permalink button. Copy and share the URL provided.

Library Proxy Server Info
The library uses a proxy server to recognize our library users. This is the proxy server URL:

https://login.ezproxy.stockton.edu/login?url=

Insert this proxy address before a link to an item in a library database when it may be accessed by someone off-campus -- i.e., in a Blackboard course, in an email, etc.

Many database vendors insert the proxy prefix before their URL, so the work is done for you. Just copy and paste the complete link into your work.
